Shakespeare and Company in Paris, France, is also a hit, and for good reason. The store stands on the Seine across from Notre Dame Cathedral and sells English-language books within its cozy, winding rooms. Search for vintage books as you meander through a labyrinth of shelves. And did you know this store allows aspiring writers and artists to live on-site in exchange for working at the store?
Livraria Lello in Porto, Portugal, also wows patrons thanks to its Neo-Gothic façade and ornate interior. Take in the stained-glass ceilings, opulent woodwork and red staircase. It’s truly a sight to behold.
