My husband and I stayed at Hotel Lucia during a recent trip to Portland, Ore. Located downtown, the building was constructed in 1909 and preserves its historic charm. Our visit coincided with the start of the holiday season and Hotel Lucia’s lobby was decked out in holiday décor including a robust tree near the fireplace.
We arrived to the boutique hotel ahead of check-in time. There was a room available in a smaller size than originally booked. We opted to take this room for our one-night stay, so we could check in early. The room featured a chic, modern décor that blended nicely with the historic feel of the building. After dropping off our bags, we made our way to Imperial, one of the hotel’s dining options. I ordered a salad and my husband a burger. We both enjoyed our meals accompanied with local craft beers before heading out for the afternoon.
We made sure to return to the hotel for the daily complimentary craft beer happy hour from 5:30–6:30 p.m. in the hotel lobby. Tap selections from local breweries vary. We enjoyed our beers while sitting in front of the fireplace.
In the morning, we made our way to the gym on the property’s basement level. The gym is small, with about five cardio machines and a few weight machines; however, it was more than adequate for a quick workout.
For a conveniently located property with a true Portland vibe, Hotel Lucia is a great pick.
