Rarity Gallery is one of those places you happen to stumble upon while wandering around a new city and immediately find yourself grateful you did. Built in 1995, this small gallery space is nestled right near the center of Mykonos and casts an unassuming presence easy to miss.
Inside, you’ll find works from a handful of artists from both around the world and local to the area. The gallery focuses on showcasing both established artists and those new to the scene, so you’re bound to find something you’ve never experienced before. The building is modestly decorated so as to highlight the artwork, which I thought was wonderful.
Touring Rarity Gallery is entirely free and there is a curator walking around inside happy to answer questions and talk to you about the exhibits. The art inside varies widely from sculptures to paintings and somewhat avant-garde displays, all of which was contemporary. It was obvious everything here was carefully chosen and there were few, if any, pieces I would consider duds.
It’s truly a delightful little gallery to experience and doesn’t take much time to explore, so I would certainly recommend giving it a tour while in town.
