This stately home has been converted into a hotel and conference center within easy reach of London, and it’s a great spot.
Just 30 minutes by train from London Bridge station, the commuter town of Royal Tunbridge Wells sits in the green surroundings of Kent, the county known as the Garden of England. A short taxi ride from the middle of town will take you to Salomons Estate, which looks over the kind of rolling hills that have enchanted visitors to England for centuries.
The rooms are unremarkable, but the setting is perfect. Stroll through the grounds, explore the local area or stop off at one of the nearby pubs before heading back for a meal. The food is one of the best things about Salomons, and each meal is spectacular.
With a cooked breakfast buffet, three-course lunch and three-course dinner, it’s not an easy place to be if you are on a diet. However, if you want to treat yourself while you’re enjoying a mini-break, you can indulge in the varied offerings prepared by highly skilled chefs.
Overall, Salomon’s is a great place to spend a few days away from the city and relax in picture-postcard countryside. Double rooms will set you back $105 per night.
