Trends / Unique Itineraries & Tours

Before the success of travel competition shows like The Amazing Race, there was the Global Scavenger Hunt, the original global race that celebrates its 11th birthday this year. Fifteen teams of two people each will embark on goal-seeking adventures through 10 countries in 23 days.

Between April 10 and May 2, teams will travel to destinations unbeknownst to them and complete various challenges in international settings. From navigating city markets in search of local ingredients to whip up a national dish, to practicing tai chi in a neighborhood park, participants engross themselves in the culture and populace of their destination.

Without guidebooks, itineraries or previous online research, teams must navigate their way through language barriers, cultural differences and time constraints. Once the competition aspect of the challenge finishes in each destination, participants will have the opportunity to explore the region or volunteer for a local cause.

To compete, participants from all over the globe are asked to raise $25,000 as an entry fee, a portion of which will be donated to a global humanitarian cause like Doctors Without Borders or Mercy Corps International. The fee also covers international airfare, first-class accommodation and some meals. The winners of the competition will receive a free around-the-world trip and a chance to compete again in 2016 to defend their title.
