Luxury tour operator andBeyond recently debuted the itinerary for its snow leopard expedition in the Himalayas. The 13-day expedition sets out in search of the rare and endangered snow leopard in India. The tour kicks off April 5.
Guests arrive in Delhi for an overnight stay before embarking on the trip. Next, spend 2.5 days in Leh. Here, guests will meet with staff from the Snow Leopard Conservatory, visit the Thiksey monastery and wander through the village. Guests then travel to Ulley, passing through several small towns along the way. The next seven nights will be spent in this location, touring the landscape with the expert guide by foot and by vehicle. Guests will interact with locals, gaining insight into the customs while on the search for the elusive snow leopard. In addition to the snow leopard, guests can expect to encounter a variety of wildlife including Tibetan antelope, blue sheep, marmot, snow partridge, golden eagle, horned lark and ibex. The trip concludes with the journey back to Leh, then Delhi.
Pricing for the excursion starts at $5,726, per person and includes all meals, internal flights in economy, activities, entrance fees, accommodations and tour guide service. The April expedition marks the only 2017 departure. Two departures are currently scheduled for 2018 (January and March).
