Spain’s tourism numbers hit a new high, setting a monthly record for arrivals in July. The number of visitors skyrocketed 10.1 percent year-over-year, according to the National Statistics Institute. The country welcomed a whopping 10.51 million visitors that month.

Spain remains popular due to its relatively cheap prices and its array of architectural and gastronomic wonders. The previous record was set at 10.02 million in August 2016.

The first seven months of this year saw visitors grow by 11.3 percent to 46.9 million total. The most-visited region was Catalonia, which saw 2.5 million people. Following next were the Balearic Islands and Andalusia.

The largest group of visitors was travelers from the United Kingdom in July, accounting for 22.1 percent of the total, or more than 2.3 million people. Next were France and Germany.

Tourism has played an important role in the recovery of Spain’s economy, contributing around 11 percent of its economic output.
