Sticking to a budget in Singapore should be no problem with the myriad of hawker markets, public transportation options and bargain shopping centers.
Beginning at any one of the popular hawker centers for food and drinks is a great way to try local cuisine on a budget. Tekka Center in Singapore’s Little India section provides a colorful variety of Indian dishes, shops and stalls. Shop from stall to stall while trying fresh fruits, local delicacies, Halal and fresh juices. Menu options range from $3–10.
Head upstairs to the higher floors of the market for unique shops selling everything from silk saris to Bollywood music. After filling up on Indian fare and merchandise, head out to the many amazing and free sights of Singapore.
Enjoy a walk in the Gardens by the Bay and Marina Reservoir for fantastic views and a bit of exercise. Need more nature? Take a short walk to the Singapore Botanical Gardens and MacRitchie Reservoir Park for miles of outdoor trails or check out the natural beauty surrounding the freestanding bridge at Treetop Walk.
For some nightly entertainment, head to Clarke Quay, known as the party hub of Singapore. Stop in nightclubs and bars boasting various drink specials. Little Saigon offers half-priced drinks before 8 p.m., while happy hour drinks at Verve Pizza come with a free pizza.
Top off the night with some music and a bite at Lau Pa Sat hawk center. With full meals for less than $10 and live jazz bands and DJs playing nightly, Lau Pa Sat offers an unbeatable deal for dinner and dancing.
