A classic summer New England destination, Newport, Rhode Island, offers plenty to do and see this June.
Providence Tours
Tall ship Providence will be at Bowen’s Wharf Marina, June 1–2, open for tours both days. Tickets are only $12 for adults, but a limited number of tickets are available. The ship is a reproduction of the first ship authorized to serve in the Continental Navy.
Newport International Polo Series
The Newport International Polo Series kicks off June 1, with events occurring through the end of September. Team USA/Newport takes on rivals from around the world and other major U.S. cities, each Saturday at 5 p.m. Spectators are invited to watch one of the fastest ball sports in the world and spread out on the lawn. The events are easily one of Newport’s most popular.
The Newport Gulls
With 10 game days in June, the Newport Gulls always offer some excitement and entertainment to Newport residents and visitors. The minor league baseball team plays on the historic Cardines Field.
SVF Annual Visitors Day
Celebrate the centennial of the Swiss Village in Newport, and learn more about this Smithsonian and SVG Biodiversity Preservation Project. Meet veterinary and animal husbandry staff, attend cryogenics and sheep shearing demonstrations and enjoy it all for free, June 8.
Newport Pell Bridge 50th Celebration
Celebrate this Newport landmark June 28 with a music concert, food trucks and even some fireworks.
