Traveling in countries where tap water isn’t potable means using outrageous amounts of plastic. The Flo-Bro offers a solution by filtering harmful viruses, bacteria and protozoa from water.
The filter attaches to the top of PET bottles, which means you can buy one plastic bottle and reuse it. Those behind Flo-Bro designed it to make freshwater safe for drinking, whether you are indoors or outdoors.
There is also a carbon + zeolite capsule that can be added to the filter system to remove chemicals and heavy metals, as well as improving the taste of the water. By allowing you to drink water from any source, the Flo-Bro helps you cut down on spending on bottled water in addition to reducing plastic waste.
If you are looking for a way to reduce the environmental impact of your travels, reducing bottled water consumption is a must. The Flo-Bro looks like a good way of doing so. That said, it is important to check the level of contamination in the water sources you will be using, as the makers haven’t released detailed information about the capabilities of the filter.
Flo-Bro was subject to a Kickstarter campaign and it will retail for $70. The first units are expected to ship in April 2018.
