Travel photography has taken social media by storm, with hashtag phrases such as wanderlust and instatravel taking over outlets like Twitter and Instagram. If you’re specifically looking for travel photos of a certain location or event; however, it can be hard to find what you’re searching for amidst the millions of non-travel pictures of cats and babies. That’s where Trover comes in.

Trover is both an app and a website for travel photography and travel photography only. Reminiscent of a hybrid mix of both Pinterest and Instagram, users can upload their photos with a comment and hashtags, categorize them in an album and Trover then geotags the photo for other users to find based on location. If you’d rather explore someone else’s photos than upload your own, you can search the site not only by city, but also by most recently uploaded and most viewed. Users can also create lists similar to Pinterest boards of other users’ photos with varying themes. It’s easy to follow other users, comment on their photos and send them a virtual thanks if you like their travel photos and recommendations.

Although handy as an app, the actual Trover website is accessible as well, which cannot be said for all made-for-mobile outlets. The Trover website’s blog also hosts monthly travel photo contests with cash prizes given to the photo with the most votes, as well as monthly travel scholarships given to their most inspiring users.
