Earlier this month, Brooklyn, New York, welcomed a new, state-of-the-art pickleball facility and gathering space. PKLYN is the newest hub for the New York City pickleball community, welcoming players of all levels to enjoy top-notch facilities. Complete with multiple lounges and fully equipped event spaces, PKLYN features five courts across 18,000 square feet.

Created by David Friedman, the Gowanus-based facility sees floor-to-ceiling deep purpose walls for high pickleball visibility, and wood and metal furniture make for a player-friendly environment. On the courts, players can expect asphalt bases and strategic light fixture placements to ensure uniform and indirect lighting. The building’s 23-foot-high ceiling maximizes airiness and playability.
Also within the facility is the central mezzanine, boasting plush seating and a 270-degree vantage point for spectators. There’s even a windowed, private event room and sunken social lounge located adjacent to a garage door for food trucks.

PKLYN’s food and beverage space, which can hold up to 200 people, comes with a full-service bar and curated selection of items from local New York partners, including a rotating selection of charcuterie platters and custom sandwiches. Popular beers on tap are also available from Threes Brewing, and visitors can also indulge in specialty cocktails from Social Hour. PKLYN offers buyouts and special events with a short list of preferred culinary partners.
Expect a rotating schedule of programming throughout the year, as well, including leagues for all skill levels, round-robin-style tournaments and open-play nights.

Insta FeedAre You Ready for the Final Switch to Real ID?
Yesterday, TSA began enforcing new identification guidelines, a change that’s been a long-time coming. Now, travelers must show a REAL ID-compliant, state-issued ID in order to fly on domestic flights, in lieu of a non-compliant driver’s license (some other forms of identification, such as passports, will still be acceptable).
