A few months ago, I wrote a review on a US Airways flight I took from Philadelphia (PHL) to Los Angeles (LAX). The main lesson I took from that flight was to never fly US Airways again until it was completely integrated with American Airlines. Last week, I took a business trip and flew a non-stop first-class flight from Philadelphia to Dallas (DFW). After my previous flight on US Airways, I was eager to experience an American flight.
I must say, the flight was absolutely fantastic. Yes, it was first class, but it was the best service I have experienced on a first-class flight. The best part of the flight was the food and the wine. They served beef teriyaki with a nice red wine and the flight attendant was constantly refilling your drink and making sure you were comfortable. After the flight to Dallas, I could not wait for the flight back to Philadelphia.
When I arrived at DFW to head back to Philadelphia, my ticket said US Airways. Even though I was extremely disappointed, I tried to be optimistic that things would be different this time around.
To my surprise, the flight was actually decent. The quality was not quite the same as the American Airlines flight, but definitely above average. The food and wine were great and the flight attendant was accommodating. The only thing that was irritating was the baggage. I had one carry-on, but I was forced to check it because there was no room on the plane. I understand this is a rather common occurrence, but for the price of a first-class ticket, this should never be an issue in first class.
