Vivid Sydney, Australia’s largest art and innovation festival, kicks off May 22 and runs through June 13. In its 16th year, this multidisciplinary event blends art, music, technology and more through installations, performances, discussions and other special experiences.
The program features four key sections: Vivid Light, Vivid Music, Vivid Food and Vivid Minds. All events and experiences fall under these pillars. This year’s Vivid Light program will be its biggest yet, with its tallest installation to date. Vivid Light Walk’s uninterrupted route features 43 artist installations spread across more than 4 miles. Vivid Music hosts performances from popular international artists, including nightly free shows. Vivid Food showcases culinary arts with locations throughout the city. Award-winning chef Yotam Ottolenghi hosts a special dinner series. Vivid Minds offers exclusive In Conversation events with U.S. cultural personalities, including Academy Award-winning filmmakers Sean Baker and Chloé Zhao and bestselling author Roxanne Gay.
New for 2026, the festival expands into daytime activities with a selection of talks, performances and exhibits.
“For 2026 we are expanding our program into new artforms including aerial performance, daytime public art, theatre and dance. These join our vast Vivid Minds, Light, Music and Food offerings to now make your Vivid Sydney one of the great comprehensive arts festivals of the world,” said Brett Sheehy, festival director, Vivid Sydney.
More than 80 percent of the festival is free to attend. Vivid Light Walk and its ambitious laser show are both free. Tickets are currently available on the website.
