Brazil recently waived its visa requirements for several different countries, and the results have been spectacular. Now, Brazil allows visa-free entry for citizens of the United States, Canada, Australia and Japan, for travel starting June 17.

Travelers from the above countries can stay in Brazil for 90 days, thanks to new measures to increase arrivals and facilitate visitor accessibility.

“This is one of the most important achievements of the Brazilian tourism industry in the last 15 years and we are confident that it will be extremely beneficial to the country,” said Marcelo Alvaro Antônio, Minister of Tourism. “This decision of the Brazilian government proves that we are living a new moment and that tourism is being seen as a vector of economic and social growth of the entire nation. This is the first step; we still have much to celebrate.”

Already, the country has seen a huge increase in planned arrivals. U.S. travelers confirmed 53 percent more trips to Brazil in June and 97 percent more trips in July as compared to last year. In Canada, the increase is 86 percent more trips in June, 54 percent more trips in July and 135 percent more trips in August.
