Anyone who has ever struggled to properly pitch a tent in difficult conditions will appreciate the Orange Screw, a ground anchor that promises to be a vast improvement over traditional pegs.
Although they are made from 100 percent recycled polycarbonate, Orange Screws are allegedly nearly indestructible. Not only does the screw design make the Orange Screw easy to insert in even hard ground, it means the product provides a far sturdier anchor in difficult conditions. Two sizes of Orange Screw are available, although both the 9.5 inch and 12.25 inch versions are lightweight and easy to use.
Although there are comparable products on the market, the main advantage of the Orange Screw is its storage sleeve fits through the eyelet in the Screw and acts as a crank arm, affording you the extra leverage you might need in particularly tough soils.
Proudly manufactured in Washington, the product can be used to secure tents, tarpaulins and even pets, providing a portable tether perfect for myriad situations. In field tests, the Orange Screw has proven to be a far more reliable anchoring solution than traditional aluminum pegs.
The Orange Screw was successfully funded on Kickstarter and is now available for pre-order. The small version sells for $6 while its bigger brother will cost you $12.
