Cooking while camping can prove a challenge for some, but the G2 Firebox Stove promises to simplify the process while offering various cooking methods.
According to the official blurb, the folding Firebox Stove “is the most capable multi-fuel stove ever.” That may sound like a heady claim, but it certainly looks like a fine addition to anyone’s collection of camping gear.
The stove is essentially a metal box which folds down flat for easy packing, but a number of features mean it can handle wood, alcohol or gas fuel in order to grill, boil water and even bake. Using a clever system of vents, the stove manages air flow to control the burning of the fuel.
For those who are new to camping the Firestove offers a good way of getting started, while more experienced cooks will enjoy the extra control the product affords them over their fire. The small and large versions weigh just 16 ounces and 6 ounces respectively, so ultra-light backpackers need not worry too much about being weighed down.
There are two sizes available, 3 inch and 5 inch, while accessories such as a grill attachment and cooking sticks are sold separately. After a Kickstarter campaign which raised $50,696, the stoves have started shipping. Order yours from the company website, where the small version sells for $40 and the larger stove costs $60.
