This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Martin Scorsese film Casino. Cinema buffs can experience an up-close-and-personal tour of the Las Vegas-set movie, which dramatized an era when organized crime controlled many of the city’s casinos.
Former mobster Frank Cullotta runs the tour. Cullotta is the former leader of the Hole in the Wall Gang — a burglary ring named for its trademark of smashing holes in buildings’ walls and ceilings during its heists. After leaving the life of organized crime, Cullotta served as a technical consultant on the set of Casino, appearing in several scenes as a hit man.
The tour kicks off at The Mob Museum, formally known as the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, with a private tour by a former FBI Special Agent and a mob historian. Next, participants depart on a bus tour to filming locations of iconic scenes including a key death scene and robbery site. Along the tour, guests will hear the true stories behind the events that transpired in the film directly from Cullotta.
Upcoming tour dates include April 22, May 13, June 10, July 15, Aug. 12, Sept. 8, Oct. 21 and Nov. 11. To make reservations, visit the website.
