While Nicaragua might not be the first place that springs to mind when you are planning your destination wedding, it’s worth giving this small Central American country a longer look.
Now recovering from its bloody past, Nicaragua is a peaceful country and one of the cheapest in Latin America. A new wave of tourist developments means there are a number of intriguing options on both the Pacific and Caribbean coasts.
The Pacific coast caters to surf and yoga enthusiasts, especially around San Juan del Sur in the south. It’s worth checking out Rancho Santana and Pelican Eyes Hotel & Resort, both of which have gained strong reputations, as well as Villas de Palermo.
On the Caribbean coast, large resorts are harder to come by. Smaller parties could host their wedding at Yemaya, a luxury boutique property on the remote Corn Islands.
Wherever you choose to host your wedding, Nicaragua offers great value for money, amazing weather and friendly locals. Plus it’s situated in the Central Standard Time zone so no one will have to compete with jet lag on your big day.
The capital Managua is served by direct flights from Atlanta (ATL), Houston, (IAH) Dallas (DFW), Los Angeles (LAX), Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and Miami, (MIA) which means your guests will have no trouble arriving. After the wedding itself, Nicaragua offers a fascinating number of different landscapes to explore, from tropical forest to volcanoes.
Mark yourself out from the crowd and discover what Nicaragua can offer.
