Yet another bag on Kickstarter, this time offering a Design for Life guarantee. The Hideout pack promises versatility and durability thanks to the use of PU-lined ballistic nylon, 800G PVC and laminated mesh. Even the zippers are YKK 8.0, seen as the old standard for tough zips. The team at Everyman is so confident in the longevity of the bag, it offers to replace any bags that are damaged, although not due to general wear and tear.
Access to the main pocket is easy thanks to top and side zippers, and there is a flat-lay laptop compartment approved by the TSA. The interior of the bag is well organized, and there is a secure external pocket for your passport or wallet for quick access on the move.
You can also add a number of accessories such as a sternum strap, bottle opener, key knife, gear tag or Grafton pen at an extra cost. This varies from item to item.
The Hideout pack will retail for $229 after the Kickstarter campaign has concluded. It’s a competitive price for a well-designed bag that promises to be built to last. Delivery is expected in December 2017.
Overall, the Hideout looks like a decent bit of kit, but there is little in the design to make it stand out from the crowd. Perhaps the top selling point is its durability, so if you tend to put your luggage through its paces then this bag could be worth a look.
