If you’re a fan of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC, you’re going to love the Farmers Santa Parade in Auckland, New Zealand. This festive procession features all of your favorite holiday characters alongside some of pop culture’s biggest players. The annual event is one of the largest and most well attended in Auckland, and a must for any in town during the Christmas season.
The parade occurs near the end of November each year and features outrageously decorated floats, and enormous balloon characters of the likes of Elsa, Mickey Mouse, and Rudolph. There are also whimsical performances by dancers and live bands marching along the route. And, of course, you can’t forget the big, jolly man himself. The Farmers Santa Parade is also a proud partner of the Paralympics, so you can expect to see many of these extraordinary athletes in the procession as well.
But the parade is not the only event happening on this day. At the end of the route you’ll find Santa’s Party in Aotea Square. The lively event boasts live music and free performances by popular adult and children’s acts — the 2019 party featured PJ Masks. The three-hour party sees a host of live music, comedy acts and food to enjoy.
The Farmers Santa Parade is a great event for children, or those who are still kids at heart.
