Foodie Events in Fresno County This Fall

Fresno County, California, prepares for the ultimate season of food festivals this fall, from a barbecue contest to a taco truck throwdown. Through Sept. 30, experience exciting food smackdowns at foodie festival events, both new and returning.

One new festival coming to Fresno County sees the finest barbecue and all the fixings come together at the Great Kearny BBQ Smoke Out at Kearney Park. This barbecue showdown runs Sept. 24 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with more than 2,000 guests expected to attend. In addition to delicious barbecue, the event features side dishes and mouthwatering desserts showcasing the bounty of the valley. More than 30 competitors are expected to arrive from around the country, all vying for the $8,000 prize. Guests will enjoy BBQ, beer and wine tastings, live music, walks through the Fields of Fresno exhibition and witnessing professionals work on the grill. Purchase tickets here.

Sept. 16–18, Fresno County hosts the 60^th annual Fresno Greek Fest. Indulge in the best Greek food on the grounds of St. George Greek Orthodox Church. Dishes served at the festival include gyros, Greek fries, fried calamari, Greek coffee, Greek salad, spanakopita, pastichio, moussaka, Greek chicken, lamb shank and more. In the main hall, guests will find unique Greek ingredients to bring home and try their own hand at a Greek recipe. Authentic Greek dancers will perform and guests are invited to join the dances. The festival also includes a full Grecian-style taverna, Greek wine tasting, microbrew Greek craft beer and more, all accompanied by music by The Olympians and the HoHLax Trio.

Don’t miss the Taco Truck Throwdown on Oct. 1. This highly anticipated event in Chukchansi Park in Downtown Fresno sees countless food trucks compete to win awards for best taco. The event also features live performances and the chance to vote for your favorite food truck and taco. Tickets are $30 for general admission and $99 for the VIP package, which includes one exclusive Taco Truck Throwdown t-shirt, one entrance ticket, 10 taco vouchers and five drink vouchers.
