The Fourth of July is right around the corner. Cities across the country celebrate with parades, picnics and fireworks displays.

 

New Orleans

Witness a unique fireworks experience at Go Fourth on the River (http://www.go4thontheriver.com). Two barges on the Mississippi River present dueling fireworks displays. The event begins at 9 p.m.

 

New York

Hungry? Check out the annual Nathan’s hot dog eating contest (http://www.nathansfamous.com/contest). Held since 1916, the gluttonous contest draws crowds from around the world.

 

Philadelphia

Week-long celebrations (http://www.welcomeamerica.com/) in the City of Brotherly Love culminate July 4th with an Independence Day parade, party on the Ben Franklin Parkway and concert with fireworks.

 

San Diego
