In Wilmington’s historic downtown district sits one of North Carolina’s most acclaimed craft beer destinations —Front Street Brewery. Built in a structure once a Confederate strong hold, this building is now home to progressive minds and exceptional culinary craftsmanship.
Upon entering, guests will find multiple levels of dining and a bar on the first floor. The design features a dark bar aesthetic with a professional touch, like a modern mead hall.
Front Street offers a free brewery tour and tasting where the brewmaster’s apprentice breaks down the intricate process of creating the beer — from the farm to the glass. The brewmaster himself, Kevin Kozak, once won the gold award at the World Beer Cup.
Front Street features a number of homemade flagship brews, some year-round and others seasonal, like Midnight Dreary Black IPA, Dram Tree Scottish Ale and Amberjack ESB, among others.
The restaurant features an extensive menu with recommended beer pairings. Among the best dishes is the BBQ beef brisket ($8.99) served with Scottish ale sauce and two sides, as well as the beer-braised bratwurst ($9.99 for two).
Front Street sells a wide variety of merchandise like their refillable jugs and growlers. They even offer kegs for those who wish to bring craft brew to the party.
