Every group outing faces the same dilemma of finding that lost friend. The problem is exacerbated by unfamiliar locations, like when you’re on vacation in a foreign city, so asking them for their surroundings won’t do any good. Apple has a solution with its Find My Friends, but everyone would have to be on an iPhone for that to work.

Glympse, on the other hand, works on a variety of smartphones and best of all, the recipient doesn’t even need to be on a phone since the app can send an SMS or email with the location. Users can create a group, broadcast their live position and request a “glympse” from friends who can then send a location or text reply back.
The beauty of the app lies in its versatility. Groups can be made with your Twitter and Facebook networks and you can send “glympses” through a variety of platforms like Dropbox, Tumblr and WhatsApp. Furthermore, the app has partnered with a large variety of companies to make their location service as seamless as possible. Examples include Garmin, Ford, Comcast, Verizon and many more.
