One of the most obnoxious parts of flying is trying to make it through airport screenings quickly before your flight. There are a few ways to make sure you’re not stopped and you can keep the line moving.
Pack Wisely
Avoid loose cords and metal containers or you might be stopped for a more thorough check. Pack your carry-on and bags in a way that makes the contents easily identifiable on an X-ray.
Remove Your Laptop
Most laptops can’t go through the scanner in a bag, so just remove it before you ever make it up to the front of the line. There’s no point in wasting your time and everyone else’s by waiting to ask when you can just unpack it and lay it down before you arrive.
Don’t Wear Belts or Boots
Metal has to be removed before walking through a scanner, so don’t wear a belt or at least remove it ahead of time before you get checked. You also have to take your shoes off, so don’t wear something that has a lot of laces or won’t slide off easily.
Smile
The TSA agents aren’t any happier about having to pat people down than you are, so shoot them a friendly smile rather than a frown. You’re less likely to look suspicious and they’ll appreciate your friendliness.
