What Not To Do During Airport Security Screenings

As airport security gets more rigid, more restrictions are being placed on passengers regarding what items they can wear and bring with them on a flight. With growing security measures enacted and the tension among air travelers, it is wise to keep the following tips in mind when passing through airport security.

Wear slip-on shoes. This doesn´t mean you have to wear Crocs, but think of a pair of shoes you may have that are easy to slip on and slip off. This will decrease the amount of time spent untying and retying your laces.

When thinking about what to pack, keep liquids near the top of your luggage or in an external pocket. When it´s time to unpack your liquids into their own bin on the conveyor belt, you’ll save precious minutes if these items are toward the top of your carry-on, making them easy to remove and set aside.

While waiting in line, remove any accessories or items of clothing you know you will have to remove before passing through the metal detector. This includes watches, jewelry, belts and shoes. If you can stand to be without these items for a few minutes, remove them to save some time.

Keep your ID and boarding pass in a place that is easy to access. As the line moves forward and you´re trying to separate all your belongings, save a few seconds by storing your vital documents in a nearby pocket so they can be whipped out in a moment´s notice.
