Most people enjoy visiting a haunted house or two during the Halloween season, but many would probably agree there are quite a few aspects of the industry that have grown more than a little stale. It takes a fair amount of creativity to come up with something new, inventive and perfectly frightening.

This is where haunted camping excursions have come into the mix. An immersive, overnight experience that puts campers into previously uncharted waters, the variations and new concepts are endless. Of course, not everyone can handle the full effect, which is why tamed-down versions are offered in some cases. Some haunted houses create adults-only sleepover experiences where guests can meet the actors, play some friendly zombie paintball and call it a night. Scarefest’s Survive the Night Horror Hunt in Lenox, Mich., lasts all night and guests participate in a series of challenges to complete a morbid scavenger hunt across 50 acres of bloodthirsty monsters.

The Great Horror Campout, however, is easily the best way to go. The event lasts 12 hours and is filled with horror-inducing tasks, activities and elements, from mass graves to cannibals. Campers can be kidnapped or caged. The rules change at any time and, if you thought you might be able to sneak into your tent for some privacy and shut-eye, think again. All tents and sleeping campers are fair game for the monsters that walk the woods. The end goal is to be crowned the courageous Hellmaster, and make it through the Hell Zones intact.

Platform Helps Remote Workers, Business Travelers Find Work-Friendly Hotels

If you’ve ever attempted to work on the go — not necessarily for a business trip, but just because your job offers the flexibility of remote working — you may have struggled with working from your hotel room. Your options are typically plugging your laptop in next to a tiny in-room table, if you’re lucky, or you’re stuck answering emails from your hotel bed — hardly conducive to productivity.
