A long-standing tradition of Japanese culture, Matcha green tea is the highest quality powdered green tea available. Created from nutrient-rich young leaves picked from the tips of shade-grown Camellia sinensis plants, Matcha green tea is steamed, stemmed and devined before being ground into fine powder. The powder is stored away from light and oxygen to preserve its brilliant green color and antioxidant properties and is now considered one of the most powerful super foods on the market today.

Here are a few reasons you should incorporate Matcha green tea into your daily routine.

High Nutritional Value

Matcha is a time-honored beverage sourcing vitamin A, vitamin B complex, vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin K and trace minerals. It’s rich in components with antioxidant activity including polyphenols, catechins and chlorophyll. The presence of amino acids L-theanine and theophylline make it a multi-nutrient-packed drink.

Stronger Immune System

As mentioned above, Matcha contains various antioxidants which collectively contribute in boosting the immune defense of the body, providing protection against antigens.

Reduces Stress

For over a millennium, the tea has been used by Chinese Daoists and Japanese Zen Buddhist monks as a means to relax and meditate while remaining alert. The higher state of consciousness is due to the amino acid L-theanine contained in the leaves which promotes the production of alpha waves in the brain inducing relaxation without the inherent drowsiness.

Boosts Memory and Concentration

Another side effect of L-theanine is the production of dopamine and serotonin serving to enhance mood, improve memory and promote increased concentration.
Excellent Detox

During the last three weeks before the tea leaves are harvested, Camellia sinensis are covered to deprive them of sunlight causing a tremendous increase in chlorophyll production. The resulting high levels of chlorophyll not only give the tea its vibrant green color, but make it a powerful detoxifier, capable of naturally removing heavy metals and chemical toxins from the body.

Increases Energy Levels

While all green tea naturally contains caffeine, the energy boost received from Matcha is mainly due to its unique combination of other nutrients. The increased endurance can last up to six hours because of the effects of L-theanine, making it good, clean energy.
