You’ve been tasked with planning a winter bachelorette in a non-tropical locale for your bestie. Rather than cursing the fates and grumbling in your best imitation of Ebenezer Scrooge, grab a mug of hot chocolate and start planning for a fun winter adventure, starting with this list:

Rent a Cabin in the Woods or the Mountains

Go skiing/snow shoeing/snow tubing, stopping at apres-ski bars or local places full of people in many layers of flannel and wool. Make sure to have a fireplace, stretchy pants, s’mores ingredients and everything for boozy hot chocolate. Go dogsledding. ‘Nuff said.

Embrace the Holiday Spirit

This one is for your friend who starts planning her Christmas in October party (to “get out ahead of everyone”) in January. Put together a Christmas-themed bachelorette. Instead of decking the bachelorette in a tiara, get her a sparkly Santa Claus hat and the most bedazzled of holiday sweaters for her night out on the town, replace a lingerie shower with a Christmas ornament exchange and take a Christmas cookie-making class.

Learn a Winter Sport

Schedule a private group figure skating class. Finally learn how to do a simple spin and look awesome on any group figure skating outing from now on. If you want to do something (slightly) more aggressive, rent out a rink for bridal party broomball. Or go very seventh grade and head to an ice or roller skating rink and jam to your favorite tunes from middle school.

Have the Perfect Co-ed or Joint Bachelor/ette Party

Winter games challenge, complete with white elephant prizes. Some ideas? Milk and cookies boat race, gingerbread house-making competition, capture the flag plus snowball fight and so on. Boozy activities can also be incorporated at your discretion.

When all else fails and you just can’t get yourself to like winter, just deny, deny deny. Create a tropical-themed bachelorette, complete with frozen daiquiris in hollowed out coconuts and pink flamingo decorations.
