Last-minute deals were once hard to come by; now, thanks to major advancements in booking and inventory technology, hotels are much smarter about how they manage rooms on a nightly basis. HotelTonight can be a lifesaver, allowing travelers to get same-day hotel rooms at a fraction of the cost paid had you booked the room earlier.

HotelTonight’s modus operandi is simple: They only offer hotels they would stay in themselves. With 15,000 properties in more than 35 countries across the Americas, Europe and Australia, they’re striking a price-quality balance customers enjoy. The app recently added a new feature: the option to upgrade that last-minute booking to a suite. When making a booking at a hotel that’s offering an upgrade, you’ll see an option to bump up your room on the check-out screen. Upgrades will always be suites rather than just a room on a higher floor or with slightly better amenities and they will be at least 50 percent cheaper than the hotel’s standard upgrade fee.

You can book HotelTonight rooms up to seven days in advance, but the longer you wait the better the deals are — while it’s a bit of a gamble, it oftentimes pays off.
