Food & Drink

Food is a way of life for many people across the world and there’s often no better way to get to know a region than by sampling its delicious eats. The Hungry Birds Tour, despite sounding like a bird-watching escapade, is the perfect way to see and taste Amsterdam while also mingling with the locals.

The company offers three varieties of tours that allow you to sample different delicacies of the region. Honestly, though, it’s mostly an excuse to try all of the great beer. The Market Birds tour will take you on a jaunt through the Albert Cuyp Market, the largest daytime market in the Netherlands. Here you’ll find stall after stall of amazing Dutch treats to sample.

On the City Birds tour, you’ll get a little more into the heart of the city by making a few stops at small, family-owned businesses that serve food throughout Amsterdam. You’ll also hit up the city center to visit a few specialty shops along the way.

Finally, the Thirsty Birds tour, our personal favorite, is an excuse to get a little tipsy on some great craft beer. You’ll visit four Dutch bars and sample their wares while also having a few bites to eat while you’re there.

These small, personal tours come with a guide who’ll be happy to show you around the city while answering any questions you might have. It’s kind of akin to exploring a new city with a local friend.
