A new Spanish airline called Level officially debuted on the discount airline scene with success right from the start. During its first day of ticket sales this spring, Level sold more than 50,000 seats, which at the time were only $260 for each leg between the West Coat of the United States and Europe. Since then, rates for the long-haul flights have gone up, but they are still more affordable than most major airlines. As with other discount airlines, however, the fare is only applicable to the flight itself, and other services and in-flight amenities come with hefty add-on fees.

Guests who grab these low-cost tickets also shell out money for in-flight entertainment and meals. The hours-long flights will serve two meals (either dinner and breakfast or lunch and dinner) that will cost travelers €35 for the pair. Passengers may also purchase food and drinks in flight from a separate a-la-carte menu. Other add-on fees include checked baggage, pre-flight seat selection and comfort packs that come with a blanket, pillow and “amenity kit.”

Level’s aircraft are divided into two sections: economy and premium economy, each of which is described in detail on Level’s website. There are also six tiers of ticket selection that come with various amenities included, based on nine specific travel needs of the passenger, such as extra baggage, a hot meal, in-flight WiFi and the ability to change or refund a ticket.

Barcelona-based Level flies from the Mediterranean city to Buenos Aires (EZE), Los Angeles (LAX), Oakland (OAK) and Punta Cana (PUJ) in the Dominican Republic.
