Great Journeys New Zealand debuts new, short-break packages and multiday, full-guided tours for visitors. The new packages and tours allow visitors to step off the beaten track and explore the many sites and food and beverage options each region in New Zealand has to offer.
Great Journeys New Zealand, the tourism division of KiwiRail, links its three scenic train services, including TranzAlpine (Christchurch/Greymouth), Northern Explorer (Auckland/Wellington) and Coastal Pacific (Picton/Christchurch), allowing travelers to explore famous coastlines and mountains. Each journey offers a unique experience, from witnessing volcanic peaks of Middle Earth in Ruapehu to sighting the mystical Blue Lake.
The new tours and short-break packages aim to connect visitors with New Zealand. Passengers step off the train and continue the next part of their journey by spending one, two or three nights in a specific region. Listen to local stories about rich history, enjoy regional food and drinks, and learn about the different cultures within the different regions.
Passengers can choose between the Classic Style Tour, ranging six to 15 days, or the Signature Style Tour, lasting six to 17 days. The Classic Style Tour takes travelers on a journey through New Zealand’s larger cities and popular destinations, with a chance to personalize the experience with optional add-on activities. The Signature Style Tour takes passengers on an enhanced experience with higher-standard accommodation and more inclusions, like handpicked activities and unique regional and cultural discoveries. Guests will also enjoy a Signature Farewell Dinner at Walter Peak. Both tours feature a knowledgeable guide who shares unique stories and supports the group throughout the journey.
