Planning a trip to Williamsburg, Virginia, in the near future? While the destination might be most well-known for its historic appeal, it also offers a lot of ways to get outdoors and enjoy a little springtime weather.

For those who prefer the great outdoors to be a little on the cultivated and organized side, Williamsburg Botanical Garden delivers. For something a little wilder, Powhatan Creek Trail offers hiking and great views.
If you’d like to see the sights and scenery from your bike, try a 23-mile ride on the Colonial Parkway. Mountain biking can be had both at York River State Park and New Quarter Park.

If the water’s calling your name, take a guided kayak excursion with Bay Country Kayaking. Those who prefer not to do their own paddling can take a sightseeing cruise with Williamsburg Charter Sails.
And, if you want to stay as close to the outdoor fun as possible during your stay, there’s no reason not to pitch your tent at Williamsburg Campground. Just a short drive from all the area’s top attractions, the campground offers amenities such as cabins and yurts (in case you don’t have a tent or RV of your own), free cable, free WiFi, a pool and children’s activities.
