Gardeners, cooks and all who value the flavor of fresh produce, listen up! Anyone who grows their own herbs on a windowsill, cans their own pickles or scours the markets for the freshest in-season groceries, this one’s for you: You can grow your own mushrooms at home. The Organic Mushroom Kit delivers fresh oyster mushrooms right into your kitchen.
One box can produce multiple crops of up to a pound and a half of organic mushrooms. All you need to do is mist it twice a day with the spray bottle (included). The mushrooms will sprout and grow to an edible size in 10 days. One kit will set you back $19.98.
The Mushroom Kit is the brainchild of Back to the Roots, a growing company whose mission is to reconnect families with their food, returning it to the kitchen and delivering it from the lab. They want to educate and inspire, to build awareness about the personal decision of what we put in our bodies, in order to create a better tomorrow.
With the goal of education in mind, Back to the Roots products, including the mushroom kit, are especially great for families. Kids have the opportunity to watch the fungi grow, a unique life form on earth.
But back to the food aspect; fresh produce simply tastes better. Endorsed by Oprah and Martha Stewart, the mushroom farm is an easy, fun way to grow your own produce.
