Review: Chez Vous, London

Reviews / Restaurant

Tooting is an area more famous for its curry houses than its Lebanese restaurants, but Chez Vous falls into the latter category.

The restaurant is situated in the rapidly gentrifying area of Tooting Broadway, and the Friday night crowd was a mixture of young professionals and curious locals. Friendly staff patrolled the aisles, keeping the full house of around 30 people fed and watered throughout.

With traditional favorites such as mezze platters and kofta on the menu, Chez Vous can hardly be called groundbreaking. However, the restaurant knows what people like, and it does it well. The stuffed vine leaves were deliciously tart, and the shish kebab succulent and juicy.

The food was tasty and served piping hot, although the Lebanese beer was a thorough disappointment. Stick to the wine if you want a drink with your meal, where the house white was fairly impressive for the price.

If you are in the local area and looking for a decent Lebanese, Chez Vous is worth checking out. However, there are plenty of similar restaurants to choose from in other areas of London, and despite the friendly atmosphere it pains me to say there are better options out there.
