Reviews / Airline

As the last town before the border with Scotland, Newcastle might not be considered a “city” but its international airport does provide some quality connections from Northern England to the rest of Europe and beyond.

Newcastle International Airport is a one-terminal, one-runway airport that may seem small and unassuming from the outside, but, once inside, travelers have a plethora of restaurants and shops in which to pass the time before leisurely walking to one of the few departure gates.

If you’re not expecting a meal on your departing flight, grab a “meal deal” at Boots (a pharmacy/convenience store) which includes a main (e.g., a sandwich or salad), a side (e.g., a bag of chips or fruit) and a drink.

Other shops include WHSmith (four total shops both before and after the security check), Namco for gamers, the typical duty-free shop and an Aerospa where you can book a beauty treatment or massage in advance of your arrival to the airport and enjoy it before you depart.

When you’re hungry and have time to kill, grab a seat at one of six restaurants, including Bar 11, The Beer House, Gregg’s Bakery, Burger King, Cabin for cocktails or The Naked Deli for a healthy snack.

NCL’s semi-new and efficient mobile app lets travelers reserve parking spaces before they arrive to the airport. App users can also take advantage of occasional lounge offers.

A few of the airlines that serve NCL are easyJet, KLM, Eurowings, Air France, British Airways Ryanair and Aer Lingus.
