Despite economic worries, travelers are still hitting the road this season, but they’re possibly using their travel budgets a little differently now, trying to get some extra stress relief while on the go.
According to a recent survey from Squaremouth, nearly a quarter of all survey respondents said they were planning to take a health- or wellness-focused trip within the next year, a more than 50 percent increase over last year. Additionally, even for those travelers not planning a trip specifically focused on health and wellness, the majority still said they were prioritizing rest and relaxation in their travels to come.
“Travelers are seeking opportunities to escape and prioritize their mental and physical well-being. This surge in wellness-focused trips is not just a fleeting trend but a reflection of a growing desire for meaningful travel experiences in today’s uncertain climate,” commented Ned Tadic, manager of public relations, Squaremouth.
Squaremouth also noted nearly all travelers surveyed in a past report expected their travel costs to remain the same or increase as compared to past years, while Squaremouth’s own data found summer 2025 trips will cost about 40 percent more than summer 2024 trips, with the average summer vacation now costing more than $10,000.
