The Evolite from Therm-a-Rest

Therm-A-Rest has found a way to combine the compactness of an air mattress with the comfort of a self-inflating one with the Evolite. You’d think the two kind of go hand-in-hand, but no one has really accomplished this until now.

The Evolite contains new, airframe construction that manages to combine the compactness of an air mattress while also integrating the support and stabilized comfort of self-inflation without compromising the design.

Therm-A-Rest managed to make what they claim is the most compressible foam on the market. The Atmos Foam used in the Evolite is poured into an atmospherically controlled chamber that supposedly allows them to retain complete control over the loftiness of the mattress.

The foam adds an extra two inches of loft to the mattress for added comfort and stability and contains alternating foam and air channels that allow it to be compressed without losing the loft.

Basically, it’s like having your own portable bed out in the wilderness. The mattress only comes in one color, pumpkin orange, but you have the choice of three different sizes — small, regular and large. The width clocks in at 20 inches for the small and regular mattresses and 25 for the large.
