Tips / Safety

There’s no denying millenials love festivals. Whether you’re planning to wander through Coachella, snap pics at Lollapalooza, get muddy at Country Thunder or hop on an international flight to Tomorrowland, here’s some tips to keep you safe.

Have a Designated Meeting Point

Bad cell reception is a fact of life at most festivals. Chances are you won’t be able to use your phone for much more than taking pictures. Set a designated meeting point with your group of friends by a stationary landmark and plan to meet there at certain times if someone gets lost. Something along the lines of “Meet at that giant teddy bear at 5 p.m. if we get separated” worked for me.

Prepare Your Fanny Pack

A hands-free fanny pack will be your best friend at a festival. I recommend bringing a small mobile charger to replenish your phone battery, mini sunscreen for long days in the sun, earplugs to protect your ears if you get close to the stage and your ID and cash. If you need inspiration, check out these Fancy Packs, perfect for festivals.

Drink Water

This one may seem obvious, but it’s easy to forget to drink water when you have so much to see and do. Make sure to stay hydrated to keep your body happy and avoid exhaustion.

Buddy System

Two minds are better than one, so having at least one friend by your side at all times to help solve sudden issues is a smart move. If your phone dies, you don’t feel good, you lost your ID or any other problems pop up, you won’t have to figure it out alone. Safety aside, festivals are more enjoyable with friends anyway.

The Argosaronic Islands Are Calling

The Saronic or Argo Saronic Islands of Greece call travelers to explore its seven small islands and islets brimming with history, natural sites and more. With most easily accessible by boat, the islands’ proximity to ports of Athens make the Saronic Islands an ideal destination for those preferring shorter boat rides. In fact, trips from Athens ports to the islands take only between 10 minutes and two hours, depending on the island you choose, making them perfect for day or weekend trips.
