The Sistine Chapel
Located in Vatican City, the Sistine Chapel’s ceiling is a remarkable work of art painted by Michelangelo from 1508–1512. Famous scenes include The Last Judgment and The Creation of Adam.

The Last Supper
Reproductions of this work by Leonardo da Vinci are likely to be seen in Italian restaurants or even above some dinner tables. The original, painted in the late 15th century, is located in Milan in the convent of the Santa Maria delle Grazie. As opposed to reproductions, the original is about 15 by 29 feet.

The Birth of Venus
Painted by Sandro Botticelli, The Birth of Venus resides in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. There are no documents detailing the origin or inspiration for the painting.

Also located in Florence, Michelangelo’s David was carved from a single block of marble. The subject of the Renaissance sculpture is the Biblical hero David. The work of art can be found at Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze.

The last painting completed by the artist Raphael, the painting was originally conceived as an altarpiece and depicts the transfiguration of Jesus Christ. Currently, the painting can be found at Pinacoteca Vaticana, the Vatican Museum in Vatican City.
