So many Finger Lakes to choose from, so little time. Narrowing it down to one gem of a wine trail, Keuka wine trail has a plethora of must-visit vineyards for your next visit to upstate New York.
One of the most beautiful vineyards in the area, inside and out, Heron Hill boasts incredible views of Keuka Lake, just beyond the perfectly placed vineyards before it. Enjoy the view from the large windows in the tasting room or grab a bottle and sit outside in the wedding-ready seating area. One fun aspect of Heron Hill you may not find at other Keuka Lake vineyards, they offer whiskey and vodka tastings as well. Try a cold-brew coffee vodka or spiced apple whiskey for less than $4 a taste.
Taste a variety of award-winning wines at Keuka Springs from its very own vineyard and other local winegrowers. Find the flavor you like (Rieslings are of the most popular in the area), purchase a bottle and grab a seat in an Adirondacks chair outside, taking in the view.
Over in Dundee, just across the lake, guests find McGregor Vineyards tucked away on a pristine plot of land. With rolling vineyards pointing your direction to the lake far below, you’re off the beaten path enough to feel secluded. Enjoy an expert tasting inside, or out, with a pairing of pesto and crackers, cheese and a bit of chocolate. Take your glass with you as a souvenir from the experience.
Offering a bit of history with views of the lake, Dr. Konstantin Frank, or Dr. Frank’s Winery, is beloved in the area. Built in the old home of the good doctor, Dr. Frank’s recently won Winery of the Year, 2018 at the New York Wine Classic. Choose from a couple tasting rooms in which to enjoy your award-winning wine.
Over on the east side of Keuka Lake, Rooster Hill Vineyards is at the center of wine country. With a blend of wildflower meadows, vineyards and lake views, you have your pick of directions to face while enjoying local wines.
