If you’re looking for a great way to shorten your wait time at customs, consider the Mobile Passport app, a new app approved by U.S. Customs and Passport Control.
The app allows you to skip the line at customs when entering the United States at certain airports by allowing travelers to submit their passport control and customs declaration information via smartphone or iPad. The app replaces that pesky blue-and-white form required of all travelers entering the United States.
Simply download the app and input basic passport information. Then, complete a digital version of the customs declaration form and answer questions about your trip. Submit the information when you land and receive a receipt, allowing you to skip the line as you follow the signs for Mobile Passport Control. You’ll then scan the receipt and show your passport to a customs officer.
Only some airports have mobile passport service, but the list is growing. For now, it includes major hubs like Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, Denver International Airport, Newark International Airport, Washington Dullest International Airport and more. Both U.S. and Canadian citizens (on B1 and B2 visas) are eligible to use the app.
