Under $100 / North America

There are many things to see and do in Albuquerque. Start the day with a hearty and filling breakfast that will keep energy levels high. Mannies is a breakfast staple and has been open since 1965. It’s open seven days a week 6 a.m.–9 p.m. Breakfast is served all day and includes traditional breakfast meals along with Southwest-inspired meals. Don’t worry about spending more than $15.

Begin the day of sightseeing with a walk through Old Town Albuquerque. There are many nooks and crannies to explore. Some of the buildings are more than 300 years old and date back to the time when the Spanish were in control of New Mexico. There is also a variety of shopping available and many places selling interesting and authentic souvenirs. Old Town is a must-visit part of the city because without it, much of the history would be missed.

Stop for a break and grab lunch at Two Fools Tavern. Located in the Nob Hill neighborhood, this restaurant offers homemade soups, salads, sandwiches and stews. It’s a great place for those looking to fill their craving for Irish food. Add a Guinness brownie to the meal as a dessert. Plan to spend around $15.

After lunch, walk through the Petroglyph National Monument. There are almost 20,000 ancient images and drawings to see. All of them pre-date modern history. Visiting this site is a great way to step back in time and try and imagine what the different drawings mean and what the artists were trying to convey.

You can’t have a great time in New Mexico without eating some delicious Mexican food. Eat dinner at the Frontier Restaurant. It’s open 5 a.m.–1 a.m. and offers some of the best Mexican food on this side of the border. It’s a highly reviewed restaurant and the food is inexpensive. Only budget $25 for a filling meal.
