Under $100 / Europe

The Spanish island of Mallorca attracts thousands of visitors to all-inclusive resorts, but there is another more tranquil side to the island.

The largest city on the island, Palma de Mallorca, largely serves as a transit hub for many visitors on their way to hotels around the island. However, sticking around the city you will see life as it is for the locals.

Dive into a slice of Mallorcan history with breakfast at C’an Joan de Saigo. The small location is found in an alley in the old town, and has been serving ensaimadas (local croissants) since 1700 ($7).

From here, wander around the old town before heading to the huge Gothic cathedral, which sits by the seashore and makes for some impressive photo opportunities. Pop in to the Museu Fundación Juan March to marvel at the impressive collection of art (free).

For lunch, check out vegetarian favorite Bon Lloc, serving set menus made from fresh market-bought produce for the past 20 years. Be sure to reserve as the two-course lunch menu is incredibly popular, and at $16 it’s relatively cheap.

In the afternoon, make your way up to the Castell de Bellver, a 14th-century fortification which has the honor of being the only castle of its kind in Spain. The journey to the top is steep, but the views are worth it. Pop into the City History Museum, which is also on site, to find out more about Palma ($5).

Stroll back down the hill for dinner at Sa Roqueta, where the paella is to die for. Fresh ingredients and an atmospheric wood-paneled interior make this little place a must-see ($20). Head over to Wineing to continue your night sampling some fine wines from across Europe ($15).

Interior Upgrades Begin Rolling Out Across United Fleet

United Airlines is in the midst of a major initiative to modernize its fleet over the next several years. After first announcing the plan in 2021, planes fitted with United’s signature interior are finally beginning to appear across the airline’s narrowbody fleet of Boeing and Airbus planes. United flyers are sure to notice these enhancements from the moment they step on board: Each new or updated plane sports remodeled seats, seatback entertainment screens for everyone, Bluetooth connectivity and more, all adding up to a better experience on every journey.
