Under $100 / Caribbean

Oistins, Barbados, is known for its Friday night fish fries, but what else is there to do in the parish?

Get your breakfast on at Cafe Luna, where the options range from the classic Bajan breakfast (eggs, pan-fried flying fish, fired plantains and grilled tomatoes with toast) to well-known breakfast favorites like frittatas and omelets. A huge breakfast can be had for less than $15.

Enjoy a morning relaxing on Dover Beach before it gets more crowded in the afternoons. A popular — and one of the prettiest — beach on Barbados, entry is free, but you can choose to pay for umbrella and chair rentals or for water activities like jet skiing or wind surfing.

Head to another beautiful and popular beach, Miami Beach, for lunch at Mr. Delicious Snack Bar. The restaurant serves up classic Bajan fare, like fish cakes and rum punch, for an unbeatable price.

Take a walk around Saint Lawrence Gap, one of the most popular neighborhoods, for more than a mile of straight bars, restaurants, clubs, shopping and hotels, ranging from budget to upscale. You’re sure to find something you love, or at least a spot you want to come back to. The neighborhood is right on the beach and sports a new boardwalk for seaside strolls and great selfie opportunities.

Of course, for dinner, you can’t miss the fish fries. The Oistins Fish Market serves food every day, but Friday is the most popular affair, when you’ll find a huge mix of tourists and locals eating, drinking and dancing to live music.
