What to Do in Oahu

Of all the islands of Hawai’i, it can be difficult choosing where to start. If you’ve already made your mind up on Oahu, use this list to help guide your decisions once on the Heart of Hawai’i.

You’ve had a brief history lesson, now it’s time for the beach and natural wonders literally filling the island. Make your way to Diamond Head, a dormant volcano neighboring a pristine beach. This iconic landmark boasts hiking trails, stunning views overlooking the ocean and cliff-lined sands below.

The rugged hiking to scenic plateaus, lagoon-lined beaches and natural beauty will be a mainstay throughout your trip, no need to tell you that, but the Jurassic Valley of Kualoa Private Nature Reserve is something truly unique. You can zip line, mountain bike, ride through the jungle on jeeps, ATVs and horseback, or get out on the water in kayaks and splash around 4-wheel drive vehicles. This reserve has it all, even film sites and homegrown, farm-to-table foodie tours.

Between the beaches of Hanauma Bay, Lanikai Beach, Waimea Bay, Waikiki Beach, Sunset Beach and lagoons of Ko Olina, you’ll have a busy lineup of sand and surf. This versatile island lets travelers challenge themselves through nature, like climbing at Koko Head, or stick to the Pineapple Express train rides of the Dole Plantation.
