The new tour operator app allows visitors to get a closer look into the rum industry. Guests will follow the trail to experience rum tastings with flights of rum to tours of local distilleries across the island.
Led by Chef Yashira Velez and sous chef Chef Paxx Caraballo, this farm-to-table restaurant will include classic Puerto Rican dishes with an elevated twist. Some of the delicious meals include a pork belly dish or local fish of the day. Cocina: Pública will also offer elegant cocktails for any occasion.
Marked as Old San Juan’s first alcoholic piragua (a shaved ice dessert) restaurant for adults looking for a sweet treat, Pira Rum first opened Dec. 18 and has continued to flourish. Pira Rum not only puts a twist on the local favorite icy treat, piragua, but also serves internationally inspired light bites and other classic rum cocktails.
Located in Miramar, La Isla grounds itself in conscious cuisine. The restaurant uses ingredients harvested locally in order to reduce solid waste and single-use plastics. La Isla offers brunch dishes like avocado toast, veggie scrambled eggs and pumpkin pancakes. This sustainable-focused eatery will take its environmentally conscious approach one step further by offering travelers the chance to join the Huskee Swap program. To join, guests can purchase their own reusable coffee cup and bring it back to receive their next coffee in a clean, sanitized cup.
