There’s no better place for a year-round ice cream business than Los Angeles — the weather never disagrees and a sweet treat is always welcome. For a creative twist on the classic ice cream sandwich, try a stunning ice cream from Churro Borough. This beautifully designed Echo Park storefront serves up ice cream sandwiched between two churro disks as well as churro fries, ice cream, refreshing drinks and pastries.
Churro Borough gained a massive following after debuting its sweet treats in 2011 and recently opened a storefront to spread ice cream sandwich joy all year long. Churros are flaky fried dough disks sprinkled with house-made spiced sugar; they are usually served as long fries and dipped in chocolate. The novelty of a churro ice cream sandwich is matched only by the gourmet ice cream flavors served.
Classic flavors include Spanish latte, made with Zona Rosa organic Central American blend espresso and condensed milk, Matcha green tea, horchata sherbert, to house-made rice and almond milk, cinnamon, spicy hot chocolate, orange dreamsicle and vanilla custard, made from Madagascar bourbon vanilla beans. Both the horchata sherbert and orange dreamsicle are dairy-free options. Seasonal offerings range from brown butter cookie sorbet — a decadent combination of house-made speculoos cookies and brown butter — to the refreshing lemon pomegranate sorbet.

If ice cream is not your thing, order the decadent churro fries or churro bits. These tasty desserts can be enjoyed alone or dipped in chocolate, toffee or guava sauces. Or cool off with a paleta (Mexican popsicle) like watermelon lemongrass (fresh watermelon juice with a lemongrass infusion) or spicy mango (a surprising combination of Ataulfo honey mangos and Taijin spices).
Churro Borough is an ice cream shop with a decidedly tropical, Latin flair. The inventive flavors and sweet, flaky churros are an example of Los Angeles fusion food at its finest.
